The La Loche students experienced two full days in Toronto, including a trip to George Brown College for a culinary lesson, and a visit to Ryerson University for the Truth and Reconciliation Community Consultation Report presentation as well as a chance to do some experiments at the Science Discovery Zone! A visit to the CN Tower and Ripley’s Aquarium were not to be missed, followed by a VIP experience at the Raptors vs Lakers game to culminate the trip.
The fourth annual event honoured Nelson Mandela with a discussion about sports, leadership, community, freedom and our future. Panel participants shared how they plan to continue Nelson Mandela’s legacy, and use the power of sport to change the world.
Following the breakfast reception, Giants of Africa visited MLSE Launchpad to spend the afternoon with 50 youth, sharing life skills lessons and conducting a mock GOA camp.
The third annual event shined a light on Nelson Mandela’s belief in the power of sport, and his work as an advocate in the fight against AIDS and HIV.
Special guests shared their stories of personal battle against disease and how they persevered against the odds.
