Cheikh Dieng’s unwavering belief in the power of education and relentless pursuit of success has been evident from a young age. So when he was awarded the Giants of Africa Alumni Education Grant in 2022, he used it to support his desire to become a successful investment banker.

Cheikh said, “I am passionate about driving value to African businesses through financial services and business administration, and I strongly believe that education is the key to unlocking opportunities.” With the help of the grant, he has been able to pay for school fees and supplies, and has applied to universities in China, Canada and the United States to pursue his Master’s degree.

Cheikh’s participation in Giants of Africa camps has also helped him to apply the skills he learned on the court to excel in the classroom. As he put it, “I learned that practice makes perfect, and that hard work, dedication and perseverance are essential to achieving success.”

Cheikh’s academic achievements have been outstanding, and he was named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2022 semester. He was also selected to work with the Basketball Africa League for the Season 3 Sahara Conference.

We’re incredibly proud of Cheikh and we wish him continued success in his academic and professional pursuits.
