2018 was marked globally as the Nelson Mandela Centenary, as it would have been the year he turned 100. Giants of Africa celebrated this milestone with a series of events celebrating his life and legacy.
La Loche welcomed the GOA team with open arms. Dene High School was filled with smiles as we went through fundamentals, footwork, goal setting and games.
The La Loche students experienced two full days in Toronto, including a trip to George Brown College for a culinary lesson, and a visit to Ryerson University for the Truth and Reconciliation Community Consultation Report presentation as well as a chance to do some experiments at the Science Discovery Zone! A visit to the CN Tower and Ripley's Aquarium were not to be missed, followed by a VIP experience at the Raptors vs Lakers game to culminate the trip.
