Rwanda is known as the land of a thousand hills. The kids woke up to news that we would start the last day of camp with a morning session running some of those stunning hills at a place called the “Special Economic Zone” – an area where locals like to exercise. And to the coaches surprise, they were super happy about it. After a good sweat, the camp continued at the gym where campers reviewed more film and worked on perfecting the camp offence; setting up an afternoon filled with a full slate of games. Evaluations were ongoing during the camp’s three days, culminating in 20 players being chosen to participate in a highly contested All-Star game. Year to year in Rwanda there has been a marked improvement in play and they continued to elevate day to day this time around. Safe to say the basketball future is bright in this country.
