From October 12–14, Giants of Africa in partnership with Golden Star Resources hosted a camp in Prestea, Ghana. The newly built, multi-purpose sports and recreational facility located in the Western Region in Ghana was the home of the two day camp. 53 campers from different areas of Ghana congregated in Prestea where they showed their enthusiasm and skills. Throughout the two days, the campers were put through skills development and displayed an eagerness to learn and get better. Young youth from the community also joined in on the fun during the last day of camp to learn a new sport.
For the last day in Ghana, Giants of Africa was invited to the Senior Correctional Centre located in Accra. The centre is dedicated to the belief that in training for citizenship lies the hope for the future. The institution is for youth from the ages of 12 to 18 years old that have been convicted of criminal or civil offences. The period that the youth spends in the centre is aimed at reforming them so they can fit into society easily after their stay through various vocational trades. Giants of Africa shared some inspirational words with the youth along with a fun game of “Basketball Says” on the court.
Thank you Ghana and Golden Star Resources for a successful camp.
